What happened in the opening episode?
A police officer's daughter is shot dead when arriving at their home. The police believe that the target was the police officer but in a botched attempt, his daughter got in the way of the shot. However Craven (the police officer) goes through Emma's belongings and discover a Geiger counter and a gun and also learns that Emma's body and possessions are radioactive. While travelling to London, he is contacted by Pendleton who informs him that Emma was known to them as a terrorist and that she not Craven was the gunman's target.
What, in slightly more detail, happened in the opening scene?
A man complains to a police officer about his worker where thought there was a "election fix" and started an inquiry about it. The man firmly believes there wasn't a fix. He is asked to hold the inquiry and instead focus more on crimes and robberies etc. He returns home with his daughter Emma after picking her up from an environmental organisation at her university campus. But Emma is shot dead by an unknown murderer right outside their very own home.
